Turn Your Taxes into Scholarships

Redirect. Support. Empower.

Your Pennsylvania state tax dollars have the power to do more than just fulfill a financial obligation—they can transform lives. By participating in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) or Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs, you can redirect your PA tax liability to fund scholarships for students at PJP and receive up to a 90% tax credit in return.

Imagine the difference you can make: supporting Catholic education, boosting enrollment, and helping families realize their dream of a quality Catholic education for their children. Your contribution doesn’t just benefit PJP; it maximizes the impact of your charitable giving, allowing you to directly influence how your state tax money is utilized. Join us in making a profound difference—every dollar you contribute through EITC or OSTC brings us one step closer to a brighter future for our students and our community.

How it works for an INDIVIDUAL:

If you have a PA tax liability of $900 or taxable income of $34,000 or greater, then this program may be for you. EITC allows you to make a donation to Pope John Paul II High School.

  • Make a 2-year commitment to a scholarship donation through an LLC such as BLOCS or the Foundation for Catholic Education by redirecting your Pennsylvania state tax liability.

  • You then sign your LLC agreement and write your check. PJP will  then receive 100% of your donation

  • You receive a K-1 for your donation, and your 90% tax credit is issued to you by the state.

Simple Example:

You write a check for $5,000 to Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools or the Foundation for Catholic Education and complete a simple agreement naming PJP as the recipient of your donation. PJP receives 100% of the donation.

With this donation, you become eligible for a 90% tax credit, which in this example is equal to $4,500. Therefore, your total outlay of cash is $500. ($5,000-$4,500=$500)

It can get even better if you are able to itemize your deductions. If you do, you can claim the residual amount ($500 in this example) as an itemized deduction

How it works for a BUSINESS:

EITC allows you to make a donation to Pope John Paul II High school if your company owes Pennsylvania taxes and commits to make a donation to PJP for one year.  Approved businesses receive a tax credit equal to 75% of the contribution.  The credit increases to 90% if the business agrees to the same amount for two consecutive tax years. Neighborhood businesses, mid-sized companies and large corporations are eligible.

  • Make a 1-year commitment to a scholarship donation through an LLC such as BLOCS or the Foundation for Catholic Education by redirecting your Pennsylvania state tax liability.

  • You then sign your LLC agreement and write your check. PJP will  then receive 100% of your donation

Simple Example:

Assume your company owes $25,000 in Pennsylvania taxes annually and commits to making a donation for one or two years.

If your company commits to a one-year donation, you can receive a 75% PA tax credit towards your Company’s PA taxes.  Therefore, in this example in order to cover the entire $25,000 tax liability the donation must be for $33,334 ($33,334 x 75%=$25,000).

If your company commits to a two-year donation, you can receive a 90% PA tax credit per year towards your Company’s PA taxes.  Therefore, in this example in order to cover the entire $25,000 tax liability the donation must be for $27,778 for each year ($27,778 x 90%=$25,000).

BLOCS or the Foundation will assist the Company through the process.

"I am grateful beyond words for the kindness and support that has continually been given to my family in order for my children to attend PJP. Every day, I see the benefits of their Catholic school upbringing, and I am so blessed to have such incredible children who have been molded by Catholic educators and the PJP community."

"We are truly blessed to have been on the receiving end of someone so kind and generous. Because of this, our daughter has been afforded the opportunity to receive an education from PJP. People like our benefactor make this world a better place!"

"What a true blessing! Our children are attending PJP thanks to the tuition assistance we receive, and we are beyond grateful! The benefits of a Catholic education are priceless and, for this, we thank you!"
